Today in our "screens" or high tech world, more and more people are hungry for human, friendly, face to face connection. Yet many of our ethical guidelines do not allow for "dual relationships" or allow us to treat clients who do not qualify for a DSM diagnosis. This then begs the question, must I pathologize all of my clients, even those who are hungry for, or starving, for an uninterrupted hour of honest, deep, conversation? Your thoughts?
